Field Trip To Subir Raha Oil Museum

Subir Raha Oil Museum

Accompanied by my teachers and peers, I went on a Field Trip to the Subir Raha Oil Museum on 12th April 2023. To educate people about oil and gas, the conservation of fossil fuels and environmental issues, Subir Raha Oil Museum ONGC was inaugurated by Former President A P J Abdul Kalam on the occasion of the golden jubilee of ONGC in 2005.

The field trip’s main goal was to provide background knowledge regarding the nation’s oil and gas production and extraction. The kids learned a lot about India’s largest oil and gas exploration and production company as a result of the field trip.

The oil and gas value chain are shown at various points throughout the museum. The museum is organized into many parts and includes two floors. The history of oil is presented in the first section. This section includes illustrations of various types of crude oil and charts outlining its properties at various temperatures. The second section provides depth to the extraction of crude oil from various ways like sea-bed extraction. This is also demonstrated with practical methods and diagrams showing the earth’s crust while extraction. The third section includes the refining of this crude oil and how it can be created into its magnificent produce like Petroleum, Kerosene, and others. There were also many practical games for students to play to make them learn about chemical formulas in a fun manner. The museum also features an audio-visual room that chronicles ONGC’s history as a documentary about the establishment of oil platforms and the Indian oil industry.

Over 20 films about exploration and the oil industry are included in the museum’s collection, and even the theatre is popular with tourists. The oil museum has established itself on Uttarakhand’s tourist map in less than ten years, and also acts as an informative place for student field trips, Scientists and geologists alike.
